Child Dental Benefits Schedule
Medicare covers up to $1,158 of basic dental care for eligible children. Most families in Logan who receive Family Tax Benefit Part A qualify, and many have no idea.
Takes about 30 seconds. No forms, no details required.
Quick eligibility check
3 questionsHow old is your child?
The scheme covers children from birth up to and including age 17.
Does your child have a Medicare card?
They can be listed on your card, they do not need one of their own.
Does your family receive a Centrelink payment?
Family Tax Benefit Part A is the most common one. Parenting Payment, Carer Payment, Youth Allowance and several others also count.
This is a guide only. We confirm your child's eligibility and remaining balance directly with Medicare before any treatment starts, so you will always know the cost before we begin.
What the benefit covers
The amount is set per child, not per family, so each eligible child in your household has their own balance. It does not roll over once the two year period ends.
Bulk billed, nothing to pay on the day
We will always tell you upfront if something falls outside
Some included services also have timing limits, for example how often a clean can be claimed. We check the balance and the restrictions before every appointment.
How it works
Book online or call us. Mention the Child Dental Benefits Schedule so we can set the appointment up correctly.
Bring your Medicare card. We confirm eligibility and the remaining balance electronically before treatment starts.
You pay nothing on the day for covered services and there is nothing to claim back afterwards.
Who your child will see
Aisha graduated from the University of Sydney in 2021 and has a particular interest in caring for children and in preventive treatment. Oral health therapists are qualified to provide Child Dental Benefits Schedule services, so Aisha can look after the whole appointment.
She is calm and unhurried with children, explains what is happening before she does it, and is used to families where English is a second language. If Arabic is easier for you, ask for Aisha when you book.

Common questions
We can look it up for you. When you call, we check the remaining balance with Medicare electronically. You can also see it in your Medicare online account through myGov, or by calling Services Australia on 132 150.
Not for services covered by the scheme while there is balance remaining. We bill Medicare directly. If your child needs something outside the scheme, or the balance runs out, we tell you the cost and get your agreement before we do anything.
Very common, and worth telling us when you book. We can allow extra time, let your child sit in the chair without any treatment on the first visit, and go at their pace. Aisha does a lot of this.
Yes, and it is usually easier for everyone. Each eligible child has their own separate balance. Tell us how many children you are bringing when you book so we can allow enough time.
No. If you have it you are welcome to bring it, but it is not required. Your Medicare card is enough for us to check.
We have a $199 new patient package that covers a check-up, clean, polish, x-rays if needed and an intra-oral examination. We also accept all major health funds and offer interest free payment plans. Give us a call and we will work out what suits.
